It’s never easy to know what to say when a friend’s loved one has passed. And sometimes a card just doesn’t seem like enough when what you really want to send is a hug.
Over the years, I’ve had a lot of customers looking for some sort of edible bereavement note that will demonstrate they care. I think our line of condolence cookies packages are a sweet and unique way to do just that.
The origin of these cookies started with a little conversation with one of my good friends:
“A few years ago, my friend from college lost her grandma to cancer. I had spent several weekends at her beach house and always remembered how loving she was, especially while I was so far away from family,” recalls Jenna Forstrom. “Joy helped me turn my happy memories into seashell cookies for my friend’s family, with a little note expressing my thoughts for them and recalling what a light their grandmother had added to my life. I hoped this gesture would help them remember all the ‘sweet’ memories she helped create.”
Inspired by this first batch, I’ve created countless others to commemorate beloved family members and friends.
As Jenna puts it, “I realize that cookies might be a weird way to memorialize someone, but my friend’s mom called me with tears to thank me for sending something so unique and relevant to their family's story. It was a gesture that really meant something to them.”
Whether you have a specific memory or feeling you hope to capture or would like to keep things simple with a cookie bouquet, I would love to help you create a moment of sweetness in an otherwise difficult time.
